Is it real? Checking images and video for AI fakes

AI-generated images and video are getting harder to spot. These checks help before you share, pay or act.

1. Look closely at the mouth, eyes and neck for blurring, cropping or pixelation.
2. Watch for skin tones that don’t match, lighting that shifts, and glitches when the person moves.
3. In video, check whether the audio matches the lips, and whether blinking looks natural.
4. Ask yourself: is this what I’d expect this person to say or do, in this place, at this time?
5. Look for a Content Credentials “CR” icon. Where it’s present, you can see who made the file and whether AI tools were used.
6. Before acting on anything important, confirm through a second source you already trust.
