Spot a malicious QR code (quishing)
A QR code is just a hidden link. Scammers stick fake ones on parking meters, posters and into emails.
- Pause before scanning codes on flyers, parking machines or unsolicited emails — check for a sticker placed over the original.
- After scanning, read the full web address your phone previews before you open it.
- Never enter passwords or card details on a site you reached only by scanning a code.
- Be suspicious of any QR code that asks you to log in or pay urgently.
- When paying for parking or bills, use the official app or a typed-in website instead of the printed code.
Still stuck after those?
