Protect against SIM-swap fraud

In a SIM swap, a scammer ports your number to their device and intercepts your codes. A carrier PIN and a port lock make that far harder.

  1. Ask your carrier to add a PIN or port-authorisation lock to your account.
  2. Switch security codes from SMS to an authenticator app where the option exists.
  3. Treat a sudden loss of signal that won’t come back as a warning sign, not just a glitch.
  4. Never share account or verification details with an unexpected caller claiming to be your telco.
  5. If you suspect a swap, contact your carrier and bank immediately and change key passwords.
