Only install apps from official stores
Sideloaded apps and links from messages are the main route malware takes onto a phone. Sticking to the official stores removes most of the risk.
- Install apps only from the App Store or Google Play — never an APK or link sent by message.
- Ignore prompts to ’enable installation from unknown sources’ unless you truly know why.
- Check the developer name and reviews before installing, even in the official store.
- Be wary of apps demanding permissions far beyond what they need to work.
- Delete anything you installed from outside the official store.
