Set a strong lock screen and biometrics
Your phone holds your email, bank and identity. A four-digit PIN guards all of it, so make the lock worth something.
- Set a six-digit or longer passcode rather than four digits or a simple pattern.
- Turn on Face ID or fingerprint unlock for speed without weakening the passcode.
- Set the screen to auto-lock after a short idle time.
- Avoid obvious codes — birthdays, 0000, 1234 or anything written near the phone.
- Keep your passcode private; biometrics are for convenience, the passcode is the real key.
