Windows 10 at home: get free security updates until October 2027
Microsoft has extended Extended Security Updates for home Windows 10 PCs to 12 October 2027. Here’s how to enrol. (Work-managed PCs aren’t eligible.)
- Make sure the PC runs Windows 10 version 22H2 with the latest updates installed.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account that’s an administrator on the PC (not a child account).
- Go to Settings, then Update & Security, then Windows Update, and select Enroll now.
- Choose an option: free if you sync your PC settings with Windows Backup, redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points, or a one-time AU$44.95 purchase.
- One enrolment covers up to 10 devices on the same Microsoft account.
- Business PCs joined to your work domain or managed by IT aren’t eligible — talk to us about options.
