Stop oversharing details that help scammers

Attackers research targets on social media. Birthdays, pet names and workplace posts feed both password guesses and convincing scams.

  1. Avoid posting your full birth date, address, or details that double as security answers.
  2. Be careful sharing your employer, role and routines — it helps attackers craft a believable BEC or impersonation.
  3. Don’t broadcast holidays in real time; ’away for two weeks’ is useful to thieves and scammers alike.
  4. Review who can see your posts and tighten your privacy settings to friends or connections only.
  5. Be cautious with quizzes and ’first concert / first pet’ games — they harvest common security answers.
  6. Think before tagging colleagues or sharing internal photos that reveal systems or badges.

Still stuck after those?
