Avoid public USB charging risks

Public USB ports can, in theory, carry data as well as power. The simple fix is to never let an unknown port touch your data.

  1. Carry your own charger and power bank and use a wall socket, not a public USB port.
  2. If you must use a public port, use a USB cable that only carries power, not data.
  3. Tap ’Charge only’ and decline any ’trust this computer’ prompt that appears.
  4. Avoid plugging into unattended cables left in airports, hotels or cafes.
  5. When in doubt, charge from a power bank you own and trust.

Still stuck after those?
