Check whether a caller really is your bank

Scammers spoof bank numbers and know just enough about you to sound legitimate. The fix is simple and never fails.

  1. Do not act on anything the caller says while still on the call — urgency is the pressure they rely on.
  2. Tell them you’ll call back, then hang up completely.
  3. Wait a minute or use a different phone — a held-open line can keep the scammer connected.
  4. Dial the number on the back of your card or your bank’s official app, never a number the caller gave you.
  5. Ask the genuine bank staff to confirm whether anyone actually contacted you.

Still stuck after those?
