The things your bank will never ask you for
A short list worth keeping in mind. Anyone asking for any of these is not your bank, no matter how convincing they sound.
- Your full online banking password — staff can never see it and never need it.
- Your card PIN — the bank has no way to look it up and will never ask.
- A one-time code they just sent you — that code is for you to type in, never to read back.
- Permission to install remote-control software (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, Quick Assist) so they can ’help’.
- To move money to a safe account to ’protect’ it — this is always a scam.
- Hang up and call the number on the back of your card if anyone asks for any of these.
