Why fast payments are hard to undo
Osko and PayID transfers move in seconds. That speed is the point, and also why a mistaken or scammed payment is so hard to claw back.
- Treat every fast payment as effectively instant — it can land in the other account within seconds.
- Understand there is no built-in cooling-off period; the bank cannot simply press undo once it’s gone.
- Slow down for new or unusual payees — the few seconds you take are your only real safeguard.
- If you send to the wrong account, phone your bank immediately — speed gives the best chance of a recall.
- For large or first-time transfers, verify the details out-of-band before sending, not after.
