Turn on two-factor authentication for your Apple ID

Apple ID guards your iCloud, photos, App Store, and Find My. On most recent devices two-factor is already required, but it is worth confirming yours is on.

  1. On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings → tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Sign-In & Security → Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. If it shows as off, tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication and follow the prompts.
  4. Confirm a trusted phone number where verification codes can be sent.
  5. On a Mac, the same setting lives under System Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security.
  6. Keep at least one trusted device or trusted number current, so you are never locked out.

Still stuck after those?
