Turn on 2-Step Verification for your Google account

Google calls it 2-Step Verification. If you use Gmail, Google Drive, or sign into other sites with Google, this protects all of it.

  1. On a computer, go to myaccount.google.com → Security.
  2. Find 2-Step Verification and select Get started, then sign in again if prompted.
  3. Add your phone as the first step, then choose how you want prompts — a Google prompt on your phone or an authenticator app is stronger than SMS.
  4. Add a backup option such as backup codes or a second phone number.
  5. Download and save your backup codes before you finish.
  6. Turn it on, then test by signing out and back in.

Still stuck after those?
