Turn on transaction alerts

A real-time alert is the cheapest fraud detection you’ll ever get. You spot a dodgy charge in seconds, not at month’s end.

1. Open your banking app’s notifications or alerts settings.
2. Switch on alerts for card purchases, transfers out and any payment over a set amount.
3. Set the threshold low enough to catch small test transactions fraudsters use to check a stolen card.
4. Choose push notifications over SMS where possible — they’re harder to intercept.
5. Confirm a test alert arrives, then make sure you’ll actually notice them when they do.
