Spot a fake parcel or Australia Post ’redelivery’ text
A text saying your parcel is held and needs a small ’redelivery fee’ is a scam. The fee page steals your card details.
- Be wary of any ’failed delivery’ or ’pay a small fee to redeliver’ message, especially if you’re not expecting a parcel.
- Don’t tap the link — couriers don’t collect redelivery fees by text.
- Check tracking by opening the courier’s official app or typing auspost.com.au yourself.
- Look at the sender and link closely — a strange number or odd web address gives it away.
- Never enter card details to ’release’ a parcel.
- Delete the message and report it to Scamwatch.
