Keep your contact details current with your bank
If the bank can’t reach you, it can’t warn you about a suspicious transaction in time. Five minutes now saves a frozen card while you’re travelling.
- Open your banking app or visit a branch and check your mobile number and email are current.
- Update them if you’ve changed numbers — old details mean fraud alerts go nowhere.
- Add travel dates or notify the bank before going overseas so genuine spending isn’t blocked.
- Make sure alerts and notifications are switched on once your details are right.
- Do the same check on any joint or business accounts you’re responsible for.
