Spot a job or ’task’ scam
Job scams offer easy money for simple online tasks, then ask you to deposit your own funds to ’unlock’ earnings. The earnings are fake.
- Be wary of unsolicited job offers by text or WhatsApp promising big money for liking, rating or ’optimising’ tasks.
- Treat any ’job’ that asks you to pay, deposit or top up to earn or withdraw as a scam.
- Be suspicious if there’s no real interview, no company you can verify, and instant ’hiring’.
- Never hand over bank details, ID or money to start a job.
- Don’t agree to receive and forward money or parcels — that can make you a money mule.
- Verify the employer independently, and report the offer to Scamwatch.
