Spot a job or ’task’ scam

Job scams offer easy money for simple online tasks, then ask you to deposit your own funds to ’unlock’ earnings. The earnings are fake.

  1. Be wary of unsolicited job offers by text or WhatsApp promising big money for liking, rating or ’optimising’ tasks.
  2. Treat any ’job’ that asks you to pay, deposit or top up to earn or withdraw as a scam.
  3. Be suspicious if there’s no real interview, no company you can verify, and instant ’hiring’.
  4. Never hand over bank details, ID or money to start a job.
  5. Don’t agree to receive and forward money or parcels — that can make you a money mule.
  6. Verify the employer independently, and report the offer to Scamwatch.
