Test your mic and camera before a meeting

A two-minute check beats the ’you’re on mute, we can’t see you’ scramble. Do it before anything important.

  1. In Teams, go to Settings → Devices and click Make a test call to hear yourself back.
  2. Confirm the right microphone, speaker, and camera are selected in that screen.
  3. Check the camera preview shows you framed and lit, not a black square.
  4. Speak normally and watch the input level move, so you know the mic is live.
  5. If a device is missing, plug it in, then click refresh or reopen the settings so the app picks it up.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
