My microphone isn’t working in any app

Windows-level permission, default-device, or the mic itself.

  1. Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → check “Microphone access” is On.
  2. Below that, check the specific app that needs it is allowed.
  3. Right-click the speaker icon (system tray) → Sound settings.
  4. Under Input, pick the correct mic in the dropdown. Speak — the bar should bounce.
  5. If no bouncing: try another USB port, or another mic if you have one.
  6. Restart Windows. Yes, still required sometimes.

Still stuck after those?
