Headphones connected but no sound
Wrong default output device, app-level routing, or Bluetooth profile.
- Click the speaker icon (system tray). At the top, make sure the playback device is your headphones, not the laptop speakers.
- Slide the system volume up, and your headphones’ own volume control if they have one.
- If using Bluetooth and the audio sounds tinny/awful, the headset is in “Hands-Free” (call) mode. In Sound settings, pick the “Stereo” profile.
- Some apps (Teams, Zoom) have their own output selection. Inside the app, go to audio settings and pick the headphones.
- Last resort: unplug, replug. For Bluetooth: forget the headphones, re-pair.
