Improve your lighting and framing on calls
Good lighting and framing make you look sharp on video with no new gear. A few small moves do most of the work.
- Face a window or lamp so the light is in front of you, not behind, or you’ll appear as a silhouette.
- Raise the camera to eye level using a stand or a few books, so it isn’t looking up your nose.
- Frame yourself with your eyes about a third down from the top, with a little headroom.
- Sit an arm’s length from the camera so you’re not looming or tiny.
- Tidy or blur the background, and avoid a bright window directly behind you.
