Create a sharing link with the right permissions

A sharing link controls exactly who can open a file and whether they can edit. Choosing the right scope avoids oversharing.

  1. Right-click the file in OneDrive, SharePoint or File Explorer and choose Share.
  2. Click the link settings to choose who it’s for — People in whedo.it, specific people, or anyone with the link.
  3. Set whether they can edit or only view, and optionally add an expiry or password.
  4. Add the recipients’ names or copy the link to send yourself.
  5. Send it — the link respects whatever scope you set, not anyone who finds it.
  6. To change or stop access later, open Manage access on the file and edit or remove the link.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
