Check who or what is on your home network

Worth a look if the internet feels crowded or you suspect an uninvited device. Most routers make this easy.

  1. Open your router’s app, or type the router address (often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) into a browser.
  2. Sign in with the admin details on the router’s label, not your Wi-Fi password.
  3. Find a section called Connected devices, Attached devices, or Device list.
  4. Identify each entry by name; unknown ones may be smart plugs, TVs, or a neighbour who has your password.
  5. If anything looks wrong, change the Wi-Fi password and reconnect your own devices.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
