Check who or what is on your home network
Worth a look if the internet feels crowded or you suspect an uninvited device. Most routers make this easy.
- Open your router’s app, or type the router address (often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) into a browser.
- Sign in with the admin details on the router’s label, not your Wi-Fi password.
- Find a section called Connected devices, Attached devices, or Device list.
- Identify each entry by name; unknown ones may be smart plugs, TVs, or a neighbour who has your password.
- If anything looks wrong, change the Wi-Fi password and reconnect your own devices.
