Use a wired Ethernet connection

For calls, big uploads or a stubborn connection, a cable beats Wi-Fi every time. Often the simplest fix going.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from a free port on the router to your PC or laptop dock.
  2. Windows usually switches over automatically within a few seconds.
  3. Confirm in Settings → Network & internet that Ethernet shows Connected.
  4. For full speed, turn Wi-Fi off while wired so traffic doesn’t split.
  5. If nothing connects, try the other end in a different router port or swap the cable, as cheap cables fail quietly.
