Take a screenshot or record your screen
The Snipping Tool handles both stills and short screen recordings, so you rarely need anything else.
- Press Win + Shift + S to capture a screenshot; drag to select the area and it copies to the clipboard.
- Click the preview that appears (bottom-right) to annotate, crop, or save it.
- To record, open Snipping Tool from Start and switch to the record (video camera) mode.
- Click New, select the region, then Start; click Stop when finished.
- Click Save to keep the MP4, which lands in your Videos → Screen Recordings folder.
Still stuck after those?
