Fix slow upload when download is fine
Calls stutter and file sends crawl while web pages load fine. Upload and download are separate, and so are the fixes.
- Run a speed test and note upload and download separately; most home plans give far less upload.
- Check nothing is backing up or syncing in the background (OneDrive, cloud backup, photo upload) and pause it during calls.
- Switch to a wired connection, which steadies upload more than download.
- If upload is consistently tiny, that’s usually the plan, so check your provider’s plan details.
- For video calls, close other apps and ask others in the house to pause large uploads while you’re on.
