Set your default browser or PDF app

Windows keeps reopening links in the wrong app until you tell it otherwise. This sets it once.

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Default apps.
  2. To change the browser, search for it in the list, open it, and click Set default at the top.
  3. To change the PDF handler, scroll down and search the file type .pdf, then pick your preferred app.
  4. Repeat for any other file type (for example .htm or a mailto link) you want reassigned.
  5. Open a link or file to confirm it now uses the right app.
