Restart your modem or router properly
A proper power-cycle clears most home internet glitches. The order and the wait both matter.
- Unplug the power from the modem (and the router, if separate).
- Wait a full 30 seconds so the connection genuinely drops.
- Plug the modem back in first and wait for its lights to settle, usually two to three minutes.
- Plug the router back in and give it another minute to come up.
- Reconnect a device and test; if lights stay red or off, the fault is likely with the internet provider.
