Reinstall a printer driver cleanly

When a printer prints garbage or refuses jobs, a clean driver reinstall usually sorts it. Remove the old one first.

  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, click the printer, and choose Remove.
  2. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps and uninstall the matching printer software if present.
  3. Restart the PC so the old driver fully clears.
  4. Reconnect the printer, or click Add device and let Windows find it on the network.
  5. If Windows can’t find a driver, download the latest one from the manufacturer’s site for your exact model.
