Printer shows as offline

Printer’s alive, Windows thinks it isn’t. Standard sequence below clears it 95% of the time.

  1. Check the printer is physically on, has paper, and has no error light blinking.
  2. Walk to the printer — if it has a screen, tap it to wake it. Many printers sleep aggressively.
  3. On Windows: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → click the printer → Open print queue.
  4. Click Printer (top menu) → untick “Use Printer Offline” if it’s ticked.
  5. Cancel any old stuck print jobs at the same time.
  6. Restart the printer (unplug power for 30 seconds). Restart Windows.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
