Use one authenticator app for all your accounts

You do not need a separate app per account. A single authenticator app can hold the second factor for your work email, banking, social media, and more.

  1. Pick one reputable app — Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator — and use it everywhere.
  2. For each account, open its security settings and choose Authenticator app as the method.
  3. In the app, tap Add account and scan the QR code that each service shows.
  4. Let the app list all your accounts together; each shows its own rotating six-digit code.
  5. Turn on the app’s cloud backup so the whole set can be restored to a new phone.
  6. Resist installing several different authenticator apps, which just spreads your codes around and makes recovery harder.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
