Free up disk space on a full drive
A nearly full C: drive slows everything and breaks updates. Clear the junk before deleting anything you care about.
- Open Settings → System → Storage to see what’s using the space.
- Turn on Storage Sense to clear temporary files automatically on a schedule.
- Click Temporary files, tick the safe categories (Temp, Recycle Bin, delivery optimisation), then Remove files.
- Use Cleanup recommendations to find large or unused files and downloads.
- Empty the Recycle Bin, then confirm you have at least 10% of the drive free.
Still stuck after those?
You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
