Free up disk space on a full drive

A nearly full C: drive slows everything and breaks updates. Clear the junk before deleting anything you care about.

  1. Open Settings → System → Storage to see what’s using the space.
  2. Turn on Storage Sense to clear temporary files automatically on a schedule.
  3. Click Temporary files, tick the safe categories (Temp, Recycle Bin, delivery optimisation), then Remove files.
  4. Use Cleanup recommendations to find large or unused files and downloads.
  5. Empty the Recycle Bin, then confirm you have at least 10% of the drive free.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
