Sign in to a cafe or hotel Wi-Fi portal
Public Wi-Fi that connects but won’t load pages is usually waiting for you to accept its sign-in page. Easy once you know.
- Connect to the venue’s Wi-Fi network as normal.
- Windows often pops the sign-in page automatically; if not, open a browser and go to a plain http site to trigger it.
- If nothing appears, type neverssl.com in the browser, which forces the portal to load.
- Accept the terms or enter the room or code the venue gave you.
- Once through, turn on your VPN before doing anything sensitive, as these networks are shared and open.
