Redirect a USB device or scanner into AVD

Scanners, signature pads and some USB gear need redirecting before AVD can see them. Not everything redirects cleanly.

  1. Plug the device into your local PC and confirm Windows recognises it there first.
  2. Close the AVD session, then in the client’s connection settings look for Local devices and resources.
  3. Enable the relevant option, often under Other supported devices or USB redirection, then reconnect.
  4. Inside the session, open the app that uses the device and check it appears.
  5. Standard printers and webcams use their own redirection, not USB, so if a device won’t pass through, ask IT whether it’s supported.

Still stuck after those?
