Reconnect after your AVD session drops
A dropped Azure Virtual Desktop session is almost always still running on the server, with your work intact. Just reconnect.
- Don’t panic or restart your PC; your apps are still open on the server.
- Check your local internet first, since the drop is usually your connection, not AVD.
- Reopen the Windows App (or Remote Desktop) client and double-click your desktop or app again.
- Sign in if prompted; you’ll land back in the same session with your work where you left it.
- If it won’t reconnect after a few tries, sign out fully and back in, then contact IT if it persists.
