Reconnect after your AVD session drops

A dropped Azure Virtual Desktop session is almost always still running on the server, with your work intact. Just reconnect.

  1. Don’t panic or restart your PC; your apps are still open on the server.
  2. Check your local internet first, since the drop is usually your connection, not AVD.
  3. Reopen the Windows App (or Remote Desktop) client and double-click your desktop or app again.
  4. Sign in if prompted; you’ll land back in the same session with your work where you left it.
  5. If it won’t reconnect after a few tries, sign out fully and back in, then contact IT if it persists.
