Log off properly versus just disconnecting

Closing the window only disconnects; your session keeps running and holding resources. Knowing the difference matters.

  1. Understand that closing the AVD window disconnects but leaves your session and apps running on the server.
  2. Disconnect on purpose when you’ll be back soon and want to resume exactly where you were.
  3. Sign out (Start → your name → Sign out, inside the session) when you’re finished for the day.
  4. Signing out closes your apps, so save everything first.
  5. A weekly full sign-out is good practice, as it clears the slate and often fixes a sluggish session.

Still stuck after those?
