Log off properly versus just disconnecting
Closing the window only disconnects; your session keeps running and holding resources. Knowing the difference matters.
- Understand that closing the AVD window disconnects but leaves your session and apps running on the server.
- Disconnect on purpose when you’ll be back soon and want to resume exactly where you were.
- Sign out (Start → your name → Sign out, inside the session) when you’re finished for the day.
- Signing out closes your apps, so save everything first.
- A weekly full sign-out is good practice, as it clears the slate and often fixes a sluggish session.
