Teams won’t open / hangs on splash screen

Usually a corrupted cache. Clear it and Teams rebuilds on the next open.

  1. Right-click the Teams icon in the system tray (bottom-right) → Quit.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc → end any “Microsoft Teams” processes still running.
  3. Press Win+R, type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams and press Enter.
  4. Delete the Cache, blob_storage, databases, GPUcache, IndexedDB and Local Storage folders. Teams will recreate them.
  5. Reopen Teams from the Start menu — first load will be slower than usual while it rebuilds.
  6. While that’s working, you can use Teams in the browser at teams.microsoft.com.

Still stuck after those?

You’ve done the right thing by trying. Send whedo.it a quick note — what you tried, what you saw — and a senior pair of eyes will be on it the same business day.
