Lock down your social media accounts
Hijacked social accounts get used to scam your friends, run fake ads, or harvest more of your details. A short review closes the common doors.
- Turn on two-factor authentication on each platform, preferring an authenticator app over SMS.
- Give each account a unique, strong password, not one shared with your email.
- Review connected apps and logins in settings, and remove anything unfamiliar.
- Check where you are logged in and sign out of old or unknown sessions.
- Confirm your recovery email and phone number are current and belong to you.
- Tighten privacy settings so strangers cannot scrape personal details used to answer security questions.
